Be Part of the Arts & Sciences

Discover your passion in the College of Arts and Sciences by studying something you love, building a degree from more than 50 majors and minors, and learning from our world-class faculty. Gain experience by conducting research, studying abroad, interning with organizations, joining student groups, and serving the community.

Arts and Sciences students find our programs highly flexible. They may choose degree programs in the college’s 18 academic departments and the 10 interdisciplinary programs that cross departmental boundaries. Students can easily combine areas of interest to construct a program of study that fits their personal goals, skills, and interests.

Our advising center, staffed by regular faculty, is designed to guide the undecided student as well as the student with a definite direction. Degree requirements are versatile, allowing the student to select from a wide range of courses, while still building a solid, broad foundation that is the hallmark of a liberal arts education.

Our liberal arts college is part of a medium-sized comprehensive university. Students in the College of Arts and Sciences have access to courses in the College of Business and Economics and in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Many of our students take courses in, for example, economics, marketing, and computer science. In fact, the College of Business and Economics offers a BA in Economics for Arts and Sciences students, and the College of Engineering offers both a BA and a BS in Computer Science for Arts and Sciences students. You can be part of an invigorating research environment with excellent libraries, world-class laboratories, a high-speed network with thousands of connection points around campus, hundreds of computers for student use, state-of-the-art performance venues for music and theater, many graduate courses, and opportunities for students to become engaged in faculty research projects.
