Michael Epstein is a corporate partner and member of the Corporate Leadership Team in the New York City office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, overseeing technology and IP transactions and intellectual property. He is also co-chair of his firm’s privacy and cybersecurity practice group. His practice involves transactions and counseling in all areas of intellectual property. His transactional work includes structuring and negotiating technology and intellectual property acquisitions, technology transfer and licensing arrangements, outsourcing transactions and joint ventures. He also has extensive intellectual property litigation experience, including handling technology-related disputes and litigations involving non-compete agreements.

Michael is active in community, philanthropic, and public service matters. He has served on advisory panels to Congress and to the National Academy of Sciences, as well as the Institute of Medicine. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northwell Health, one of the largest healthcare systems in the U.S. He is a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and a Board member of the Jonas Salk Foundation. He is the author of more than sixty articles on intellectual property law and has lectured worldwide on such topics as trade secrets, biotechnology law, trademark law, computer law, and e-commerce. He is a founder and co-editor of Intellectual Property & Technology Law Journal and a member of the Editorial Boards of Computer Lawyer, Intellectual Property Strategist and Cyberspace Lawyer. He is also the author of the treatise Epstein on Intellectual Property and co-editor of Drafting License Agreements.

Michael is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Michael holds a BA in biology from Lehigh University and a JD from New York University.
