John H. Glanville serves as Managing Director of Athenaeum Capital Partners, LLC, an evergreen early stage technology investment fund operating and with investments in Southern California. John has managed fund raising, due diligence, investment, board, and exit responsibilities for multiple investments over a 20 year investment period. He manages an active portfolio with a current focus on impact investing.

John serves as CEO and President of MAPS.COM, an icon of the geographic and cartographic industry. Providing solutions to business, education, and retail customers, MAPS.COM seeks to broaden awareness of the critical role of geography in today’s hyper disconnected world.  Additionally, John serves as General Manager of Benchmark Maps, a leading purveyor or award-winning road & recreation atlases. John’s role is to enhance and expand Benchmark’s place as a leading resource for travel, government, and business.

John is a founding member of the Pasadena Angels, Tech Coast Angels Central Coast chapter, founding member of the Investment Committee for ACE Fund, founding Advisory Board member for the Los Angeles Business Technology Center, Advisory Board member for UCSB College of Engineering and mentor to the UCSB Technology Management Program, mentor on entrepreneurship to professors and students at Caltech, Art Center College of Design, Harvey Mudd, Lehigh, UT Austin, Keck Graduate School, USC, UCSB, and UCLA, founding member of Social Venture Partners affiliates in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and founding member, board of director, and CFO for Sustainable Change Alliance (Santa Barbara). John is a frequent speaker and panelist at universities and conferences. 

John served Lehigh University in various roles, including service on the Board of Trustees (2004-2010), College of Arts & Sciences Advisory Board, Global Lehigh Committee of the Board of Trustees, and Lehigh Leadership Council.

John has extensive non-profit experience serving in a variety of officer, board, committee and operational roles with Rotary (Pasadena, Montecito, Goleta clubs), the Caltech Associates, Caltech SURF, Pasadena Symphony, A Noise Within Theatre Company, and Sustainable Change Alliance Foundation.

Prior to his investment and coaching careers, John worked for 15 years as a construction manager, 10 years with Turner Construction in Texas and Connecticut, and 5 years for California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. 

John earned his BA in fine arts/architecture from Lehigh University and a MS degree in civil engineering/project management from the University of Texas at Austin. John is a certified coach from the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara.

John is married with one son and two Labradors and resides in Santa Barbara, California.
