Global Studies Faculty Research Colloquium ZOOM Link: Women, Work and the Global Economy Professor Mary Anne Madeira Department of International Relations Professor Madeira's research explores the ways that different types of economic globalization affect women’s participation in the labor force. The goals of the project are to use cross-national data to better understand whether men and women share the gains of globalization equally, or if women are systematically disadvantaged (or perhaps advantaged) by globalized forms of economic production. By distinguishing between the different ways that firms and countries participate in the global economy, we can gain a more nuanced understanding about the types of economic practices and policies that substantially improve women’s outcomes, particularly in the developing world.
