Welcome to the South Side Initiative!

The South Side Initiative (SSI) is an ambitious experiment in
university-community collaboration. SSI brings together Lehigh University faculty,
students, and staff with the people of Bethlehem in order to
study the past, present, and possible futures of our city.

Our central aim is to foster informed, democratic deliberation about the challenges
 facing the city of Bethlehem--and to enhance the cultural, economic,
political, and social vitality of the South Side.
