Career Opportunities for Graduates

Our M.A. graduates have been diverse in their career directions:

  • human services
  • research
  • education
  • marketing
  • academic positions

With the applied social research training as well as the internship experience, the Master's program gives students a focused set of credentials to offer to service agencies, government offices, and private businesses. In particular, the market for people with good computer skills has been expanding, as has the requirement of both private businesses and non-profit agencies for program evaluation. Carla Howery of the American Sociological Association has concluded that the Masters is the most marketable degree in sociology. Faculty in departments which have similar programs to ours also report that there is no lack of positions for their graduates.
