- Prof. Ben Wright's newest book, Praise Israel for Wisdom and Instruction: Essays on Ben Sira and Wisdom, the Letter of Aristeas and the Septuagint (JSJSup 131; Leiden: Brill) appeared in November of 2008.
In September 2008 he was a featured speaker at the conference "Septuagint Translations(s): Retrospect and Prospect" held at Trinity Western University (Vancouver, Canada) celebrating the appearance of An New Translation of the Septuagint, which he co-edited with Albert Pietersma (University of Toronto). The title of his talk was "Moving Beyond Translating a Translation: Reflections on A New English Translation of the Septuagint."
In October 2008, he gave a lecture entitled "Introduction to the Septuagint" at Bryn Mawr College celebrating the 200th anniversary of Charles Thomson's first English translation of the Septuagint.
In November 2008 at the Annual Meetings of the Society of Biblical Literature, he gave a paper entitled "The Role of the Sage: Ben Sira at the Boundary" in the Wisdom and Apocalypticism Group.
- Prof. Michael Raposa was Commentator on Ronald L. Hall's "Normativity in Nature: Towards a Post-Critical Ontology," at the Polanyi Society Group Meeting, in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Philosophical Society, Eastern Division (Philadelphia: December, 2008).
He gave a lecture entitled "Pragmatism, Democracy and the Future of Catholic Theology," at The Fifth International Conference of the Highlands Institute for American Religious and Philosophical Thought (Assisi, Italy: August, 2008).
