Departmental News

Research from Prof. Robert Flowers lab was featured in the inaugural issue of JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments).  Research by post-doctoral fellow, Dhandapani Sadasivam and graduate student, Kimberly Choquette are featured.  JoVE: Chemistry (established in February, 2013) focuses on the methodology within chemistry and chemical preparation across multidisciplinary fields.

Prof. Robert Flowers has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)—an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers.  Dr. Flowers, who holds the Danser Distinguished Faculty Chair in Chemistry at Lehigh, was lauded for his distinguished contributions to the field of physical organic chemistry, particularly in understanding the mechanism of single electron transfer reactions of lanthanides in important synthetic reactions.

The Department welcomes Prof. David Vicic to Lehigh.  Prof. Vicic's research interest areas include inorganic, organic and organometallic chemistry.

Congratulations to department members Robert Flowers, Andy Ho & Keith Schray who won University Awards in 2012:  Robert won the Eleanor and Joseph F. Libsch Research Award, Andy won the Alfred Nobel Robinson Staff Award and Keith won the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Teaching Award.

Congratulations to Godfred Fianu who has been awarded a prestigious University Graduate Fellowship for 2012-2013.

Congratulations to the following chemistry graduate students who are awarded departmental fellowships for 2012-2013:  Panchao Yin (Liu group), Cong Liu (Landskron group), and Kyle Root (Glover group).  Additionally, Kimberly Choquette (Flowers group) was awarded the Hornor Fellowship (university award) for 2012-2013.

Lehigh's Chemistry Department is ranked 6th in nation for producing MS CHEM graduates!   Report from the ACS Committee on Professional Training, 2009 (click here to read the report).
