The Pitcher lectures are held in honor of Everett Pitcher, who
served in Lehigh's Department of Mathematics from 1938 until 1978, when
he retired as Distinguished Professor of Mathematics. He was secretary
of the American Mathematical Society from 1967 until 1988.
Approximately annually a distinguished mathematician gives a series of three lectures at Lehigh. The lectures are geared for the general mathematician.
