U.S. State Department Internship Program for Undergraduates
Student internships at the U.S. Department of State represent a greatly coveted inside
look into Foreign Service, the positions and the responsibilities that
are possible. Think of it as test-driving a career before you decide what you’re
going to do with your life. You’ll gain valuable work experience that
you’ll be able to apply to virtually every endeavor — whether you work
in government or in the private sector. Most of all, you feel good
about doing something worthwhile for your nation.
Internships are available in Washington, DC or Overseas
At the U.S. Department of State, we like to say that we represent
America to the world. As an intern here or abroad, you will be, too.
Positions are both paid and unpaid, and many are available during
spring, summer or fall. For more information about this internship program find details such as duties of an intern,

Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg Fellows Council of American Ambassador
The Council of American Ambassadors (CAA) International Affairs Fellowship (also known as the Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg Fellows) program enables undergraduate students to go to Washington D.C. and participate in a prestigious summer program that combines mentoring by former U.S. Ambassadors, practical training through internships at the Department of State and academic studies in international affairs. Students will also receive valuable advice and guidance from former U.S. ambassadors, who are members of the CAA and who serve as mentors, meeting with the Fellows on a regular basis during their stay in Washington D.C. to discuss international affairs and careers.
To qualify, students first must be selected for a D.C. - based summer internship at the Department of State. Please note that the State Department's application deadline is November 3rd of the year prior to the summer internship. Please click here for more information.

Founded in 1955, FPRI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to bringing the insights of scholarship to bear on the development of polices that advance U.S. national interests.
