LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

People talk about the Asian Century. For over twenty years, the Asian Studies program at Lehigh University has been preparing students for the time when the ability to live and work in Asia and with Asian people would became critical to their futures. That time is now.

Asian Studies at Lehigh University is a program that integrates all facets of learning. Students take courses in a range of disciplines—anthropology, history, international relations, language, literature, philosophy, religion, and sociology—and in a range of regions—East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. New classes and opportunities are being created all the time. Majors are required to learn an Asian language and strongly encouraged to spend time learning and traveling in Asia. They have their choice of advisors and work closely with their professors.

We have a strong and committed faculty. Students come to us from all fields of humanities, business, and engineering to learn about Asia.

Welcome!
